Can I just have all the images?

People often ask, “What about the rest of the images you shot on the day?”

I get asked this question a lot! Here are the answers:

During our session I will shoot many photographs of a variety of poses and setups. I then select the best images from each setup to create your artwork. I spend upwards of five hours editing each image - this sometimes includes evening skin tones, removing blemishes, enhancing the lighting and balancing the colours. I often comp together elements from many images in order to get the exact right expression, fold of fabric or flower. Every image that I hand over has had hours of love put into it - it has been scrutinised at a pixel level. My style is often referred to as painterly and this can’t be achieved by snapping a few images and applying a filter.

Most photographers don’t release their unedited images. Like me, they consider the file that comes out of the camera the first step of a complicated artwork. It is important to me that all my images are of a consistent style and standard.

I shoot with a high quality professional level DSLR camera and in order to achieve the clear, crisp files large enough to print, my camera is set to capture my images in a super high resolution, very large file format that is useless before they go through my process.

STYLE: I shoot fine art photography in a dark/ beautiful aesthetic. My backdrops are usually dark and use lots of flowers and butterflies in my work. Have a look through my gallery to get an idea.

HAIR: Please come with freshly washed hair

MAKEUP: We tend to do makeup together before the shoot. Bring your foundation products (and other makeup if you like) but come with a clean face.

BODY: PLEASE DON’T FAKE TAN BEFORE THE SHOOT! This is a mistake models make frequently. It is hours of work in post production to remove the patchiness of a fake tan - even professional spray tans tend to photograph badly under studio lighting.

Please remove all nail polish before the shoot if chipped.

Please remove any jewellery before the shoot.

CLOTHES: I will have a dress prepared for you, but please feel free to bring along any other dresses you would like to be photographed in and I will try to shoot as many as we have time for. Wear nude coloured underwear - a strapless bra is often really handy as well.

In exchange for your modelling, I will deliver you 5 high quality images that you can use for anything you like. I always just ask that you credit me as the photographer. I’ll deliver your images in 3-6 weeks in an online gallery. If you need larger versions of the files to print, just let me know and I can organise print ready files to send to you too.

Before shoot day, I will send you a link to a model release form. Please read and sign it :) This just ensures that I have your permission to photograph you and you understand that I will use the images too.
